2018 Canal Days Poster

Local artist Tom Moyer created this work featuring a family of ducks swimming in the canal with a reflection of the Fairport lift bridge in the water.

This is the second time Moyer has won the Canal Days poster competition.

The inspiration for this work, “Family Outing”, came from personal experience along the canal in Fairport with his young family. According to Moyer, “I sought to embody the family unit through mother and her ducklings. The iconic liftbridge, so prominent in my last poster, is now represented as a subtle reflection on Erie’s waters. The rubber duck symbolizes not just the Duck Race but the joy and whimsy that we feel during festival time.”
